A novel of big-game hunting in the Belgian Congo. The book is based on Veirtel’s experiences working with Director John Huson during the filming of The African Queen, an Academy Award winning movie starring Humphrey Bogart and Kathrine Hepburn. In the book, a world-renowned film-maker travels to Africa for his next film with plans that include hunting elephants and other game. Hunting takes precedence over filmmaking simply because the desire to bring down a giant bull elephant cannot be overcome. Ultimately, a tragic price is paid for the obsession. Make into a 1990 movie by the same name produced and directed by, and starring, Clint Eastwood.
