A very uncommon item published during what is described in the book as “our national farm depression” by “An Extensive Land Owner and Wheat Grower”. In the Preface, the author calls for curbs on, if not prohibition of, short selling in the futures market. The author also lambasts governmental farm aid in the form of low-cost loans writing “when cows sit erect on cacti and sing ‘Home Sweet Home’ the farmer will come into his own by borrowing more money.” He expresses the hope his book will play “some part in arousing the public to a sense of justice for agriculture” which he calls “the foundation of our nation”. A first-person account of what he believed were the causes contributing to the GREAT DEPRESSION, one of the most tumultuous times in American history.
Amarillo: Privately published. Printed for the author by Amarillo Printing Company. No date of publication is given but based upon specific references in the book, it was written in 1929. 1st (and likely, only) edition. 101 pages. Brown wrappers. This book has had professional cosmetic touch-up work that included reinforcement of the cover corners and edges. Overall, the condition is GOOD to VERY GOOD.
