Winner of the National Book Award, this book was identified by Time as one of the best English-language novels in the years 1923 to 2005. White Noise explores rampant consumerism, media saturation, novelty academic intellectualism, underground conspiracies, the disintegration and reintegration of the family, human-made disasters, and the potentially regenerative nature of violence. DeLillo’s 8th novel. It brought DeLillo to the attention of a much larger audience and is thus considered by many to be his “breakout” work.
New York: Viking Press, 1985. 1st edition. 326 pages. Hardcover book with dustjacket. Book has a very slight lean to the text block, one lightly bumped corner, bumps at the head and heel of the spine, very minor wear to the board edges and to top and bottom of the spine, and the slightest amount of soiling to the boards. Overall, VERY GOOD. Perhaps better. The dustjacket has very minor wear to the edges in specific and isolated places and the slightest bit of uneven coloration to the extreme edge at the top of the dustjacket. Overall, VERY GOOD to NEAR FINE. SIGNED by DeLillo.
