This book won the Institute of Texas Letters Award in 1974.  It was subsequently designated a “classic” when it was included in Classics of Texas Fiction by James Lee Ward, a noted authority on Texas literature.  It is the story of a young man facing the possible loss of the only home he has ever known and simultaneously trying to reconcile the life he now lives with the kinship he feels for the life to which he was born.

The dustjacket is NEAR FINE with slight wrinkling at the top and bottom of the spine and one tear at the bottom edge of the rear fold, all without loss of paper.  SIGNED by Smith and dated “12/30/73”.
