The first part gives a general description of the Highlands area of West Texas, its resources, and the local range cattle industry. The balance describes 67 local Highland Hereford Breeder Association member-ranches found in Presidio, Jeff Davis and Brewster Counties.  Each entry locates the ranch, provides the name of the owner(s), and gives a drawing of the ranch brand.. As Frank Reeves collected the information for this book, he took many photographs.  They are found throughout. A hard-to-find item that conveys important Big Bend ranching history.
