In his book, Printing Arts in Texas, Al Lowman wrote: “This book was the first publication of the Texas Western Press at what is now The University of Texas at El Paso. The text was printed at the college press from Centaur and Arrighi type handset by students under Hertzog’s direction….”
El Paso, 1952. Illustrated by Jose Cisneros. Designed and printed by Carl Hertzog. 1st edition, this is #187 of 525 copies. No pagination. This copy is one of 50 copies printed on Tan Ticonderga paper. Adobe block print binding over boards (Hardcover) with dustjacket. Book is NEAR FINE. Dustjacket has some edgewear, a repair (approximately 1” square) at the lower outside edge of the front panel and one small tear toward the bottom of the spine. Overall, the condition is VERY GOOD. SIGNED by Fugate and Cisneros on the front decorated endpaper and by Hertzog on the last printed page.
