The Iron Orchard

Description Additional info Product reviews

The story of a young man desperate to make a name for himself and chooses to do so in the Texas oil fields. Pendleton knew the oil fields. This is a vibrant yet sometimes brutal story of men who labored, sweated, lusted, and gambled their money and spirits. It is also a story of perseverance and love. The Iron Orchard shared the 1967 Texas Institute of Letters’ Jesse H. Jones Award for Best Work of Fiction along with Larry McMurtry’s The Last Picture Show. A memorable book. Made into a movie by the same name in 2018.

New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1966. 1st edition. 373 pages. Hardcover book with dustjacket. Book has a bumped corner that has resulted in a very small tear of the cloth that board covering. There is also very minor wear at the head and heel of the spine. Overall, the book is VERY GOOD. The dustjacket has some minor wear to the edges; overall, it is in VERY GOOD to NEAR FINE condition.
