The Eagle. The Autobiography of Santa Anna

Description Additional info Product reviews

Santa Anna was controversial, and enigmatic, but also patriotic. He was a man who exercised so much influence on Mexican politics and government in the early nineteenth century that historians often refer to the period as the “Age of Santa Anna”. Evidence of the great power he wielded during his 40-year political career is the fact he served 11 separate terms as President of Mexico between 1833 and 1855. This book comes from Santa Anna’s original handwritten memoirs as well as information gained from interviews with his grandson in the 1960’s.

Austin: Pemberton Press, 1967. 1st printing. 299 pages. Hardcover book with leather backstrip over cloth boards housed in publisher’s slipcase. Number #123 of a limited edition of 135 copies each of which contain an original broadside announcing one of Santa Anna’s Presidential decrees. Book, broadside and slipcase are all in FINE condition. SIGNED by Crawford.
