The Comanche Barrier to the South Plains Settlement

Description Additional info Product reviews

A classic of frontier literature. In this book, Dr. Richardson told the story of the Comanche nation, one of the most feared of all American Indian tribes. This book shows both white settlers and Comanches shared responsibility for the conflict between them and the carnage that issued from it. A chapter is devoted to the battle of Adobe Walls and explains its fascinating background from the Comanche perspective by relating the role of Isatai, a young Medicine Man and prophet who instigated an effort to reclaim buffalo hunting grounds.

Glendale: The Arthur Clark Company, 1933. 1st edition. 424 pages plus advertisements. 2 maps. Hardcover book has two slightly bumped corners and some shelf wear. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Or better. No dustjacket, as issued. SIGNED by Richardson with a brief inscription.
