The Alamo and Beyond, a Collector’s Journey

Description Additional info Product reviews

In the Preface, Collins writes:  “I grant you, the passion I have for the Alamo and the larger Texas Revolution is not the most obvious hobby for an English rock musician, but when I was five I saw Walt Disney’s TV series Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier on our little black-and-white television and something happened to me.”  What happened?  In time, Collins became the world’s foremost collector of Alamo artifacts.  This book tells the story of his collection which he donated to the State of Texas in 2014 in support of revitalization of the Texas shrine. The collection is on display in the Alamo museum.  In gratitude, Collins was made an honorary Texan…which had to have been an equal thrill to performing before 1.9 billion people which he did at the multi-venue Live Aid concert on July 13, 1985.
