This booklet lists 73 Reaugh paintings and 6 sculptures along with commentary by Reaugh. Reaugh first visited the western ranges in the early 1880s. About Reaugh, it was said “Frank Reaugh, perhaps more than any other painter in America, expresses that indigenous power in this pictures that is but the flowering of the culture of which he is so much a part….Mr Reaugh has rendered Texas and the Southwest a rich service in perpetuating through the genius of his brush the vastness and prodigal beauty of its plains, its mountains, mesas and valleys, while preserving its most colorful era in his portrayals of the now almost extinct longhorn.” (Dudley Crafts Watson, Extension lecturer of the Chicago Art Institute).
