Description Additional info Product reviews

Austin: Von Boeckmann-Jones, 1927. 1st edition (1899, Indianology by Jonathan Jones was published and contained information based on Lehmann’s account; however, this is the first book published with Lehmann as author). 235 pages. Hardcover book with dustjacket. Other than age-toning to the pastedowns and endpapers, the book and dustjacket are in FINE condition.

Lehmann and his brother were captured by the Apaches in 1870. His brother escaped but Herman remained and became a warrior within the Apache and later Comanches and grew to hate whites. In this book, Lehmann relates the riveting story of his captivity and the actions he took while living as an Indian, including killing soldiers and other whites and Mexicans.   He eventually left the Indians and resumed life as a white man.
