But Not for Love

Description Additional info Product reviews

Shrake’s first novel.  It was subsequently designated a “classic” when it was included in Classics of Texas Fiction by James Lee Ward, a noted authority on Texas literature.   According to Ward, it is set in the Kennedy years when the rich were getting richer, the parties wilder, and politicians more expensive to buy.  The book introduces the reader to a fast Fort Worth crowd and their hangers-on.  A daring novel for its time written by a man who had correctly gaged the mood of those about whom he was writing.

Garden City, New York:  Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1964. 1st edition. Hardcover book with dustjacket.
