The story of one of Texas’ great ranches. The Waggoner is the second largest ranch in Texas after the King. It is generally acknowledged as the largest ranch in the U.S. under one perimeter fence. It covers over 500,000 acres, primary located in Wichita and Wilbarger counties, Texas. It is half as large as Rhode Island. Since its founding in 1852, the ranch was owned by the Waggoner family until 2014 when it was sold to Stan Kroenke, owner of the Los Angeles Rams. Founder Dan Waggoner and, for that matter, his son, W.T. Waggoner were larger-than-life figures who built an imposing landholding as well as myriad other business interests.
