The first regimental history of the Eleventh Texas Cavalry. Recruited in North Texas in the Summer of 1861 and mustered into Confederate service shortly thereafter. The Regiment fought briefly against the Creeks in Indian Territory and then at Pea Ridge in Northwest Arkansas. Following a reorganization of the Confederate States army, the Regiment subsequently fought dismounted in Mississippi, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Thereafter, it was remounted and brigaded with the Eighth Texas Cavalry, also known as Terry’s Texas Rangers.
